OH MAN OH MAN, I haven’t updated in a while. I’ve been crazy busy at work, what with all the holidays and such. BUT with all that being busy came all these pies! Right here we have a whisky apple, a pumpkin, and a sweet sweet bourbon pecan pie. ALL JUST AS DELICIOUS AS THE LAST. I should have more posts coming due to all the stuff I have to make at work for Chrimbus and all. So, except more cookies and quick breads and all of those magical, delightful, things. 
Oh, and I’m not going to like and pretend like I haven’t been a little preoccupied with my new Magic: The Gathering hobby. Sorry about that, guys.

I made mini pies! little tiny baby mini pies! these pies are perfect Borrower size! I love this time of year, I know it’s cliche, but it’s really fantastic. I’m sure if there were some sort of chart that could determine how much magic was in the area during certain times, autumn’s magic levels would be off the charts. ANYWAY I DIGRESS…so I made these tiny pies at work today, and for the most part they’re pretty simple. a nice apple filling with a pate brisee crust. BUT OH DANG, the smell that filled the kitchen when I was cooking filling was like autumn was punching everyone in that kitchen in the face with Thanksgiving.

I love cooking pie fillings in a big pot during chilly weather, I really feel like the wizard I should feel like when doing so. I’m very excited to make lots more pies this season to share with all of you wonderful nerds.

SUMMER

just isn’t good baking weather. i mean, it isn’t terrible or anything, you get nice berry pies and things like that. BUUUTTTT there’s isn’t the same kind of nice warm feeling you get from baking in the fall and winter. i feel like a real wizard boiling things up and making baked goods that warm people up when it’s cool out.

so basically what i’m trying to say, summer, is that you’re kinda just killing my baking buzz. i’m just not into it. BUT ALAS, i must carry on for my calling is baking and my spirit animal is cake.
